Dr. Desmond Raitt is a former research Group Leader  in the Pathway Mapping group at ALTANA Pharma in Boston (acquired by Nycomed), and at Vertex Pharmaceuticals focusing on Oncology and Autoimmune disease target ID and validation. With academic research and several publications in the fields of signal transduction (Dana Farber Cancer Institute) and gene expression regulation (National Institute for Medical Research,  London; CU  Boulder), Dr. Raitt has deep experience in  basic research and early stage drug discovery.

 Nycomed US (New Jersey) –  Opened its West Coast office of Search & Evaluation at UCSF Mission Bay campus to evaluate and provide access to deal flow, late-stage licensing and M&A opportunities (GI, Autoimmune, Respiratory and Pain).

 Ferring Pharmaceuticals (San Diego)– Headed up their West Coast External Innovation efforts and Chaired GI Disease TA, leading an international team of Gastroenterologists, physicians and Immunologists to identify, evaluate and license early-stage translational and clinical globally.

HTG Molecular Diagnostics (Tucson, AZ) – Established the Therapeutics division to leverage their RNA Expression Profiling and epitranscriptomics technology to:

•  Accelerate and de-risk drug discovery (small molecules against RMPs in Cancer TA)
• Lead Competitive Intelligence and build out KOL Ad Board
• Establish SAB, Academic and Corporate partnerships to execute on planned therapeutics strategy targeting RNA 

UCSF-based Start-ups – Licensed core IP from UCSF and co-founded number of start-ups in the Oncology space.
